The Three Silly Billies, by Margie Palatini and illustrated by Barry Moser, is a rewrite of the traditional tale, "The Three Billy Goats Gruff".
(If you're after a copy of the traditional tale, check out some of these other versions. I had no idea there were so many different books based on the same tale! Each one has it's own unique style.)
The Three Silly Billies is far from the traditional tale as it has been 'updated' to the present day.
The Three Billy Goats Gruff drive a car while the Troll has converted his bridge into an income source by imposing a toll on all who would use it.
The story also incorporates other fairy tale characters such as Little Red Riding Hood, Jack (from Jack in the Beanstalk) and the Three Little Bears.
The illustrations are terrific and often include many humourous additions.
