We've been reading Farmer Blake and Sneaky Snake.
Today, Sneaky Snake came to our house and it was very apparent that he'd been eating heaps of eggs.
No, it wasn't a real snake, but one drawn in chalk.
To be honest, I'm pleased it wasn't a real snake because if one that long ever turned up in our yard, I'd have no idea what to do! This snake stretched all the way down the driveway.
The boys were eager to help draw the eyes on the snake and then were responsible for numbering each bump in the snake - bumps obviously caused from eating enormous eggs! Much bigger than hen eggs, by the way! Maybe they were dinosaur eggs.
I helped out by adding a few numbers to the snake's body here and there so the boys had to fill in the gaps. This was excellent writing practise in regards to numbers.
It turns out that the snake ate 41 eggs!
We did try jumping and hopping the length of the snake but this activity was short lived.
It was way too hot and humid outside to be doing such physical activities.
So the snake was abandoned and we went ....
... fishing and kayaking. I love homeschooling!
