It's time to get out a construction set of some sort in order to play this Sight Word Activity: Construction.
The aim of this sight word activity is for children to collect one piece of the construction set each time they read one of the sight word cards correctly.
To play, children take turns reading different sight words. I always try to encourage all players to read each sight word by asking them to check if the word has been read correctly. In this way, everyone is reading all the time, not just when it's their turn.
At the end of the game, they can assemble all the pieces of construction equipment together to make something of their own design.
The beauty of this game is that it is non-competitive. There are no winners or losers ... just players who get to create something out of the their pieces at the end of the game.
This sight word activity is great for revising words.
It could also be used for colours, numbers, simple addition or subtraction problems.
