The seed sequencing game takes advantage of the fact that seeds come in different sizes.
The idea behind the game is to sequence a variety of seeds according to size - from smallest to biggest ... or from biggest to smallest.
Materials Required for the Seeds Matching Game
- A variety of seeds
- Sticky Tape
Preparation for the Seeds Matching Game
Make some seed cards, the same as used in the Seed Matching Game.
These cards are simple squares of cardboard with samples of different seeds taped on them. They're very easy to make.
How to Play the Seeds Sequencing Game
Shuffle the seed cards so they are in no particular order. Give the set of cards to your child.
Encourage your child to:
- Look at all the different seeds on the cards
- Compare the sizes of the seeds
- Sequence the seed cards so the seeds are arranged according to size - from largest to smallest, or smallest to largest.
Note: to make the task easier for younger children, limit the number of cards in the set. Increase the number of cards to make the game more difficult.
If your child is learning to read, encourage them to read the labels for each seed.
