For the last few months, we've been playing literacy games in the park with many children of varying ages and abilities. Each week, the children confirm what I've longed believed:
Learning occurs naturally when children are actively involved and having fun!
The games we've been playing have had the children engaging in team work, running, throwing, writing, creating and a lot more.
Now it's time to share some of these games, which we've found so successful, with you. Just to name a few ...
- Penguin Skittles (using recycled milk bottles)
- The Bower Bird Game (a very popular and frequently played running game)
- Word Forest (using wooden blocks)
- Marble Bowling Alley
- The Alliteration Game
- Beat the Bomb
Where possible, we'll include free printables to cut down on the preparation time for you.
So .... keep an eye on this website as we'll regularly post ideas over the coming weeks.
In the meantime, we'd love to hear about your favourite games which promote natural learning through active involvement and fun. Feel free to leave a comment on our facebook page.
Enjoy your day.
