Anzac biscuits are so easy to make and just lend themselves perfectly to being made by children (with some adult assistance, of course).

Be warned, however, they are extremely delicious and will not live in the pantry cupboard long before being eaten!

Ingredients Needed for Anzac Biscuits

  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup brown sugar (firmly packed)
  • ½ cup coconut
  • 125 gms butter
  • 2 tablespoons Golden Syrup
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • ½ teaspoon bi-carbonate soda (baking soda)

How to Make Anzac Biscuits

Pour oats into a large mixing bowl.

Add brown sugar.

Sift in flour.

Put butter in a saucepan.

Pour golden syrup into the saucepan with the butter.

Melt the butter and golden syrup together on the stove.

Add the baking soda to the melted butter mixture.

Time to exercise those muscles and stir the butter mixture into the dry ingredients.

Roll the mixture into small balls and place them on a baking tray.

Don't forget to test the mixture ... no wait, that's not compulsory!

Cook the biscuits in an oven (providing, of course, there's any left after the taste testing step above) for 20 minutes at 180°C.
