It's true ... books ignite imagination!
By reading, we are able to see beyond our immediate world into the world of imagination. Reading enables us to take a break from the 'real world' and embark on an adventure into lands untold all through the pages of a book - or, these days, through the screen of a tablet. :o
Either way (page or screen), reading books allows us to imagine and consider thoughts, actions, events that we might not otherwise have thought about.
How many of us have used books to 'escape' from the stresses of life into an imaginary world. This is not a bad thing. In fact, reading helps to reduce stress by giving us some 'time-out' which then allows us to regroup and face our real-life issues with more determination and strength.
Encouraging children to read books so their imaginations are ignited is a noble deed. Imagination is an essential ingredient in the life of healthy, happy, creative people.
Books ignite imagination so you can go places.
"Imagination will often carry us to worlds that never were. But without it, we go nowhere!" (Carl Sagan).
Books ignite imagination so you can invent.
"To invent, you need a good imagination and a pile of junk." (Thomas A. Edison).
Books ignite imagination so you can laugh at life's realities.
"I like nonsense; it wakes up the brain cells. Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living. It's a way of looking at life through the wrong end of a telescope, which is what I do, and that enables you to laugh at life's realities. (Dr. Seuss).
Books ignite imagination so you can create.
"Imagination is the beginning of creation. You imagine what you desire, you will what you imagine and at last you create what you will." (George Bernard Shaw).
By the way, both fiction AND non-fiction books ignite imagination. Read one with your child today!
